Once founded by the monks of the Cistercian the monastery rapidly developed during the Middle Ages into the most significant order in North Germany. Owing to its precious art treasures and due to a contemplative atmosphere, the church today is a favorite destination for excursions.

The 800 year old monastery has been turned into a well kept hotel which is able to offer everything guests could want of a holiday as well as the peace and quiet needed to organize a business event.

The area of the hotel extends over an ample 80,000 sqm and looks like a little westphalian village. Extensive parks and gardens with centuries old trees between the 9 houses invite you to stay or to take a walk. Should the area around the hotel not give enough immersion in nature you can find as much of that as you need in the surrounding area.

As the owner is so much in love with sports he has built another modern hotel on the grounds. This sport hotel has been inaugurated 2006 for the World Cup.

All rooms in both the monastery hotel and the sport hotel are comfortable and furnished with a loving attention to detail. Altogether 200 beds in 120 rooms including 28 junior suites, 3 suites and 1 deluxe tower suite are waiting for guests.

For weddings, private parties and for business events the hotel offers 3 halls for 30 up to 300 persons. For conferences, seminars and trainings the hotel provides 9 modern and functionally furnished conference rooms for 10 to 40 participants, at larger conferences for up to 250 persons. During the summer the terraces invite for open air conferences as well for a meeting break.
