Residence near Castel di Lama - etia no.: 137
Residence with a beautiful park in the south of the Marche.
description:
The Resicence lies on the hill along the valley of the River Tronto. The view offers a wide panorama ranging from the towering heights of the Sibillini Mountanis and the Gran Sasso peak, down to the Appennine hills, gently sloping down towards the turquoise Adriatic Sea. It was built in 1742 on the foundations of an old castle built as a defence on the summit of the hill in approximately the XIVth Century. During the renovations done to the villa 'bocche di Lupo', grilles and unadorned burial pits, were uncovered in the basement. This points to the existence of mediaeval tombs dating further back in time. The castle, already a settlement in Roman times, looked down upon the river Lama and the Salaria road. In the XIIIth Century it was home to a Cistercian convent and the influence of its nuns certainly helped keep peace in these troubled times in the borderlands between the Papal State, the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, the Guelfs and the Ghibellines.
The Villa is surrounded by a historic garden of rare beauty, commissioned by the ancestors of the family and planted between 1875 and 1890 by the renowned botanist and landscape gardener Ludwig Winter. The Residence is a unique and evocative site where all the fascination of history remains unblemished thanks to the loving care of the owners.
speciality:
The Seghetti Panichi Historic Gardens is the first historic garden in Italy to have bioenergetic paths. A bioenergetic garden is a green space where in some places it is possible to obtain particular benefits from the plants. This is due to the interaction of the natural electromagnetism of the place with the specific electromagnetism emitted by various types of plant that are found there. The innovative technique of 'Bioenergetic Landscapes' enables the identification or creation of special therapeutic areas. Thus it is possible to define precisely what type of beneficial influences are constantly and generously given off by the plant world. The bioenergetic path in the Seghetti Panichi Historic Gardens is a walk that links the therapeutic areas identified in this splendid garden. Various types of typically Mediterranean plant species (palms, holm oaks, olive trees, etc.) possess characteristics that are positive for man. Thanks to their correct positioning they generate vast areas of up to dozens of metres in diameter, with specific influences on the various organs and biological functions (immune, nervous and cardiocirculatory systems, liver, thyroid, etc.). The garden was studied and the bioenegetic areas were identified by Marco Nieri, ecodesigner from Bologna.

in the villa:
Suite Gigli:
The suite derives its name from the famous tenor Beniamino Gigli, who was born in Recanati. He was a dear friend of the family and used to sleep in this room during his stays at the villa. The room is made of twin beds, which can be made up as double, a large bathroom with bath and shower, and a very comfortable vestiaire with boudoir. The intense red wall paper, photos, books and magazines about Gigli and Maria Callas on the shelves give a theatrical and somptuous atmosphere to the suite.
Suite Winter:
The suite is named after the famous german botanist Ludwig Winter, who used to sleep in this room between 1870 and 1875, during the creation and plantation of the historic gardens. The large two windows look over the garden from which you can admire the beautiful examples of exotic plants. The suite is composed by a twin bedroom, that can be made up as double, a spacious marble bathroom with bath and shower, a vestiaire and a large and comfortable writing desk. You can feel a colonial atmosphere, due to the cream couloured wallpaper, decorated with a variety of green palms and yellow fruits and to its end 19th hundred furniture.
Suite Orientale:
Decorated with objects collected during the trips of the family to Asia, this is the largest suite of the villa. Sitting rooms with two sofa beds in the entrance room, a twin bedroom, that can be also made up as double, with large windows overlooking the gardens - an ancient oak tree and a rare palm tree. The yellow marble bathroom has original 18th century terracotta flooring.
Suite Blu:
So called because of the colour of the furnishing. The walls are covered in a wallpaper with blue china vases designs. Two single beds which can be joined together covered in blue check fabrics.
The view is on the garden, just on the big oak called ‘the cathedral’. In front of the bed there is a nice marble chimney with two comfortable armchairs and a tea table. The bathroom with bath and shower is covered in travertino marble painted in blue and it has a lovely window looking on the garden. The furniture is 19th century walnut.
Suite Roma:
So called because of a very nice collection of engravings about roman monuments of the 18th and 19th century. The suite is composed by a very nice bedroom (two single beds which can be joined together), vestiaire with writing table, a spacious bathroom with jacuzzi and shower. The view is on the front grass and the old chapel and on the garden entrance. The two rooms are covered with Pompeian red wallpaper decorated with golden stars. The furniture is Empire style in walnut wood and it consists of: the bed with two nighttables, a writing desk, two little sofas in front of the bed and an armchair with a round teatable. The upholstery is all in silk, white and cream.
