The villa rises up majestically on the East coast of Sicily between the lively city of Catania and ancient Taormina (both reachable by car in just 20-30 minutes). This property dominates a lush citrus valley that sweeps down to the deep blue Ionian Sea. The area of Riposto, in the province of Catania, where the Villa is located, derives from the term meaning ‘storage area’, as this town is where the province’s grapes and wine were stored before shipment.

The stately architecture of the mansion and its rustic outbuildings are enclosed within a well-tended garden with impressive terraces. Aromatic mediterranean herbs and an array of terracotta pots brimming with lemons, palms, and small olive trees create a particularly relaxing effect. The estate is composed of two houses: The main villa, dating back to 1850, with its ornate terraces and spacious living areas, and the annex, a roomy, luxurious house which can sleep up to 8 guests independently in supreme comfort.

The property is found down a private driveway and guarantees complete privacy and offers ample parking outside the main entrance of the villa’s main doors. It is elegant and extremely cozy and welcoming, while guests enjoying the large garden and pool areas are spoiled by the views of the sea (directly in front of the villa), orange and mandarin groves (all around the property), and Mount Etna, Europe’s oldest, active volcano’s (directly behind the property)

The main entrance of the Villa opens into a stone-floor corridor where a small lily fountain and large pottery urns await its guests. The corridor reveals 3 doors – the first leading into the large kitchen, the second, into the main block of the villa, and the third into the first external dining area and large, lounge terrace.

Mention must be made of the impressive kitchen, fully equipped for all culinary needs. Cooking classes into the secrets of refined Italian and Sicilian cuisine can be arranged, upon request. All bedrooms enjoy air-conditioning and rental also includes the cost of a full time domestic staff (4-6 staff depending on the size of the group: maids, waiter, cook, gardener).

Entering into the main villa block takes you, once again, down a small corridor. A staircase jetting out from the left brings you up 21 steps to the first set of 4 bedrooms. The main corridor, however, continues into the main dining room (to the left), boasting its original stone arch ceilings and large, iron candelabra and a large oval table comfortably seating 12 guests.  The right side of the corridor leads to the main living room, through a small foyer with large, stone fireplace. The large living room is clearly divided into two, distinct sitting areas.  Both sitting areas, offering ample seating on large, comfortable couches, stately armchairs, and duvets, are filled with art, coffee tables, lamps, rugs, pottery, bookshelves, and décor. One side of the living room offers a T.V. with DVD player and stereo, while the other, a very large, stone fireplace. It is a very cozy and welcoming setting. Windows on both sides of the living room exit onto different external areas of the garden and make for a lovely cross breeze. Exiting the living room to one side will bring you to the main, external dining lounge & terrace, which is filled with numerous seating areas (armchairs, benches and sofas) and offers a large, oval dining table under a shaded garden gazebo. Exiting the living room to the other side leads you down the external corridor from where you can access the dependànce and its garden areas.
The living room also offers access, from one side, into a very large room, ideal for large receptions, dinners, parties, or conferences. This conference room also boasts 2 WC. Wireless, high speed Internet is also found in this wing of the house (living room, conference room, dining room). The south side of the living room brings you to a set of stairs, which leads to the 3 bedrooms found on the left wing of the house.  The first bedroom, up 17 steps, is large and spacious w/ en-suite bathroom (as every bedroom is), air conditioning, a closet corridor, dresser, desk, and small bedside tables.  Most bedrooms are carpeted or have large rugs that allow for comfortable, walking barefoot. The bathrooms differ, however, they are large and modern and most offer both a bathtub and separate shower. Very comfortable. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are up an ulterior 5 steps from the first and share a common sitting room, which is a precursor to each bedroom.

The first 4 bedrooms found up a flight of steps off of the main corridor entrance to the villa, offer 3 twin-double bedrooms (one with shower, two with both shower and bath) and a double bedroom with shower, bath, and terrace overlooking the enormous orange and mandarin groves, the sea, and the pool deck to the extreme north east.  This wing of the house also offers a separate, ½ bathroom.

The villa boasts two, well equipped kitchens. The first, part of the main building, is found at the beginning of the corridor, which leads into the main block of the house. It is a large, island kitchen, with prep table found in the middle of the room.  This kitchen has 2 ovens, and 8-range stovetop, several refrigerators, a large freezer, and a brick oven found off of the main entrance. The second kitchen (description below) is located in the dependànce wing of the property.

Annex:
The luxurious annex features 4, very comfortable double bedrooms (3 twin-doubles and 1true double), each with en-suite changing room and bathroom with both tub and shower. The dependànce is fully independent, with its own, large kitchen and dining area (dishwasher, double oven, 5-range stovetop, large refrigerator, freezer and wood oven) and a comfortable living room with satellite TV and DVD player, large fireplace, desk and various sofas and armchairs as well as an oval breakfast table. Both the living room and kitchen have French windows opening to the garden and the dependànce’s external dining area. The dependànce has air conditioning everywhere – from the entrance corridor to the living room to the bedrooms.
