Description:

Torcello is the real precursor of Venice. Settled between the fifth and seventh centuries, it became the most prosperous of the early lagoon communities with its own palaces and churches, shipyards and docks, its own nobility and laws.

The growth of Venice brought its demise and its current population is now about 100 people. It is probably most famous today for the Locanda Cipriani, one of the gastronomic institutions of the Veneto.

The villa, built towards the end of the seventeenth century, is the only villa on Torcello and is surrounded by an enormous garden. It was completely restored a few years ago and it is beautifully furnished with antiques. The swimming pool is on a small hill overlooking the garden.

From Torcello it is possible to visit either by vaporetto or by water taxi the islands of the Venetian lagoon, including Burano, which is famous for its lace, and Murano for its glass. The centre of Venice can also be reached easily by vaporetto. The vaporetto stop takes only a five-minute walk from the villa.

• Minimum rental period 7 nights. from Saturday till Saturday.
• Not included: Costs for heating. 
• You are expected to provide your own bath-/beach linens.
• The swimming pool (14 x 7 m) is opened from 25th May till 28th September, depending on the weather conditions.
• Upon arrival, a deposit of € 1.500,00 is required.
• In case the accommodation disposes of a telephone with an outgoing line, an extra deposit of € 250,00 is also required. Both amounts to be paid in cash.
• Check-in on the day of arrival between 16.00-19.00 hrs.
• Check-out on the day of departure before 10.00 hrs. 
• Please enquire prior to booking if the accommodation of your choice can be reached with your car (unpaved road).
