The 17th century castle lies in a strategic position at the crossroad with Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany, ten minutes drive north of Lake Bolsena, only 3 km away from Grotte di Castro, a fascinating ancient village of Etruscan origin which is suspended on top of a rock. It has been the property of the noble Caterini family for generations. Just below the Castle a typical XVIII Century farmhouse has just been restored to offer a comfortable and warm hospitality in its picturesque apartments.
The fairy tale Castle is most romantic with its castellated turret rising above age old woods. It has a long association with powerful Prelates who played a key role in forming the Vatican State which culminated in Pope Pius IX's chief advisor, Cardinal Prospero Caterini, choosing the Castello in 1848 as his personal residence. His descendants still use this as a country home. This is a wonderful place to stay, with the opportunity of watersports or just lazing on the beach at Lake Bolsena, horse riding, mountain biking or hiking in the Monte Rufeno National Park.

The Castle with its tower and the ancient oak trees of the enchanting park are available to make your wedding day a memorable one. You will receive your guests on the lawn at the front of the Castle, in a magical atmosphere, framed by candlelights and flowers. The reception will continue in the garden just under the tower, with the finest italian catering serving delicious food under the large umbrellas, on tables elegantly set up, simply enriched by flowers.
If the season or the weather don't allow the reception to be outside, the Castle allows aprox. 130 people to seat comfortably in the old rooms inside the Castle. Incredible shows of flag weavers in medieval costumes or amazingly colorful fireworks will make your wedding a unique experience.

Just below the Castle stands a handsome XVIII's farmhouse, the original center of the estate's farming activities. The farmhouse has been skillfully converted with carefull attention to conserving authenticity together with comfort, and privacy in a pleasant combination with communal living, if wanted.
The very large fattoria now contains eight charming apartments mostly furnished with original pieces.
On the ground floor, opening onto the main terrace overlooking the swimming pool there is a large "taverna" with brick vaulted ceilings. The space is divided into three main areas: meeting room, dining room, billiard room, ping-pong room, plus a large kitchen available for all the guests and equipped for cooking courses as well.

Apartments in the fattoria

FIRENZE   sleeps 6
Trench doors open from the terrace into a large, very light living room with a handsome fireplace, beamed ceiling and terracotta tiled floor. The furnishings are comfortable and traditional, with nice lamps, curtains and old prints. The separate custom-made kitchen of traditional tiles and heavy wooden doors has a dishwasher, and the large downstairs shower room houses a washing machine. Uptairs the double bedroom overlooks the main terrace and garden. Its furnishings are bright and pretty; a second more traditional twin-bedded room has good antique furniture and the third has charming patchwork covers. There is plenty of storage space, room to sit, and a second rather smaller shower room. This is cottage living in some style.

SIENA  sleeps 4/5
This is the middle cottage, also on two floors and opening off the terrace through French doors. A space with useful hooks makes a little hallway before the attractive kitchen/dining room with a nice fireplace and prints (washing machine and dishwasher). There is also a good shower room on this floor and the cheerful little sitting room overlooking the garden has green and white striped sofa beds. Upstairs are two delightful bedrooms - one with wrought iron twin beds and an elegant antique bamboo table and chairs and the other, (double bed), with a stylish chaise longue and Toile de Jouy-faced wardrobe. The second shower room is narrow and L-shaped but fits everything in. Siena's living accomodation is perhaps the simplest here but it has charm and character and particularly nice bedrooms

ORVIETO  sleeps 4/5
Formerly the factor's house this has the original fireplace and staircase. French doors open off the terrace into a comfortable sitting area. The dining area behind is rather more separate and looks onto the garden. The kichen here is smaller but has everything you need including a small dishwasher and washing machine. Also on this floor is a cloakroom and a pretty double bedroom with a brick vaulted ceiling, overlooking the garden. Upstairs is a large, well-equipped shower room, and an attractive traditionally furnished bedroom, approached trough a studio room which can be a study with a good desk and extra seating or the sofa bed can make up into a third bedroom. This arrangement makes Orvieto both comfortable and adaptable.

CIVITA  sleeps 4
On one floor. The main entrance is on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool at the bottom floor. A charming living room \dining room with fireplace. Two nice bedrooms each one with barthroom. A kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher with a service entrance.

The rooms in Granaio 1 and Granaio 2 can be used as B&B. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom. The little kitchen and the living room will then be available for all guests.
