In 1644 Bernini and Borromini constructed the colossal Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, symbolizing the four corners of the world: the Danube, the Nile, the Ganges, and the Rio de la Plata.
Vicolo di Monte Vecchio is a cross street from Via dei Coronari, home of Rome's antiques dealers. It's also near the church of Santa Maria della Pace, Rome's most delightful little architectural stage sets. It has Raphael's frescoes of the Sibyls and Baramante's cloister which is the very first expression of High Renaissance style in Rome.
It is a splendid restored 14th century building which has an open courtyard with a pending old lantern surrounded by period style marble columns. The apt. is on the 2nd floor (no elevator).
